Sound Healing

Singing bowls and tuning forks are powerful tools often incorporated into acupuncture sessions. The soothing vibrations from the singing bowls help to balance energy and clear blockages, and are sometimes used directly on the body.

Tuning forks are often applied on acupuncture points to activate the points without needles and help restore harmony to the body’s natural energy flow.

While acupuncture helps to align the body’s energy, the vibrations of sound introduce another layer of harmony, subtly guiding the flow of qi. The singing bowls, when played in the space, fill the room with resonant frequencies that powerfully support both settling the spirit as well as clearing energy that needs some support to resolve. The frequencies dissolve stagnation and we play them when we notice a moment of challenge or a release building. At times we also directly place the bowls upon the body to allow the vibrations to move through the whole body, calming the mind, softening tension, and facilitating a greater receptivity for the magic of acupuncture to work.

The tuning forks, when placed upon specific acupuncture points, carry precise frequencies that gently guide the body's energy into balance and activate the acupuncture points in a different way than the needles. We use different tones at different points on the body, gently recalibrating the flow of qi. This technique is an excellent option when we don’t want to use too many needles, or when one wants a needle free session, and they are great for kids. We also use tuning forks placed alongside the head, this frequency when heard is potent in shifting into a state of deep relaxation.

Along these same lines, we also utilize small wooden chimes played near the head for an even deeper layer of softening and relaxation.

One more element we sometimes weave into treatments is infusing binaural beats by giving you headphones during the session. These potent frequencies can greatly aid shifting into a state of profound relaxation to allow the acupuncture and other modalities to work even deeper. It’s quite an experience if you’ve never tried it before!
